I am an Architect who photographs people and architecture

Starting as a tribute to the people who have kept us sane, fit and well-fed during Lockdown, this has evolved into a learning process of how to capture people’s characters.  The photographs are a visual interaction with the chefs, restaurateurs, hairdressers, florists, osteopaths, martial arts teachers, architects and collaborators who have been part of my extended family for many years.  But increasingly, the photographs are of people I come across spontaneously on the street; they are random, odd, curious, but fascinating.  It is an engagement with people learning about their stories, their sense of humour and capturing a little of their individuality.

In the photographs of architecture, while the dramatic lines, complexity of structure and forms are theatrical, I try to capture the mood and stillness as well as well the interplay of light and shadow on the space and materials.
